Raghavendra Rathore, the designer best known for his signature stylish bandhgalas, has given shape to his dream project — The Gurukul School of Design (GSD) in Jaipur. The Gurukul School of Design is known as an institute that helps students adapt to the changing design needs of evolving society by nurturing and honing creative individuals to become design professionals of the future, providing them with world class education in combination with traditional values of self-awareness. GSD focuses on the evolution of aesthetics from a global standpoint while encouraging students to look inwardly, while imbibing the Gurukul way of learning.

The building is designed with the Gurukul feel, their classrooms are like lounges. The campus is in Jaipur


The following programmes are offered by GSD:

Since it is a Bachelor’s of Design (B.Des.) degree program, it is necessary to have finished class 12 of schooling.


2 .70 lakhs is the tuition for a semester, all other costs are as per actuals.


The school has identified safe living apartments in the posh part of Jaipur.


Built only two years ago the design of the main building is like a Spanish villa, it is centrally air-conditioned, it houses all necessary amenities. Workshops and larger machinery is offered by the affiliated university which is across the road.


Most faculty are professionals, who understand and offer education to students like their own children - patience and the ability to help students through the time of need is an essential part of their presence on the campus.


The school is known for the Design 360° program, a unique teaching methodology where a student not only learns about one hemisphere of the creative industry for example fashion but also learns how to put accessories together or design products that go along with their creation. Exciting and very new approach to design. Teachers are requested to be fun and formal.


Presently GSD is offering a 50% reduction on its tuition, anybody who enrolls now will be guaranteed 50% tuition for the rest of the four years. This is for a limited time keeping the present Covid situation in mind.

Step 1 - Download the application form from the site url.
Step 2 - Fill the form and send via post or scan and email. (september 2019 onwards)
Step 3 - Home exam : make a creative self portrait in any medium and write a 500 word self essay about yourself.
Step 4 - Personal situation exam and interview to be held post clearance of home exam. (april 2020 onwards)
Step 5 - successful candidates will be intimated by email.

The entrance exam is a creative test, submission of your portfolio, and an interview. This can also be done online if you can’t visit the campus in Jaipur.

GSD has a special program affiliated with the Raghavendra Rathore Jodhpur Company and Amrapali Jewels for their graduating students. They have also forged other industry partnerships which will be available to the final year students.

Students have had the experience to meet and speak with various industry experts, owners of businesses, entrepreneurs and also be a part of many experiences such as the India Art Fair, fashion weeks and other creative hotspots.
