IISC

The brain child of Jamsetji Nusserwanji Tata, the Indian Institute of Science (IISC) Bangalore was established in 1909 and has the status of a Deemed University since 1958. Application & Admission Process

Selection is based on the Design Aptitude Test (DAT) and performance in the on-campus interview.

Non-Verbal ability (colors and their usage)

Tests maths and theoretical understanding on engineering design

Tests the student’s ability to solve fairly real life, creative problems related to practical design

IISC-Bangalore has the status of a “Deemed University” since 1958.

IISC has its sole campus in North Bengaluru, Bangalore.

The institute offers the following flagship Design programme :

Masters in Design (M.Des)

Full-time: 2 years

The Eligibility Criteria is :

Bachelors in Engineering/Architecture/Design
A valid GATE 2018/2019/2020 or CEED 2020 score

The Institute accepts about 400 students every year
This number includes about 50 sponsored candidates and faculty members from engineering colleges under the Quality Improvement Programme (the Defence Services, Indian Space Research Organization, NTRO, BARC, NAL, CPRI, KSRTC, BMTC, PWD and BDA)
25 seats are reserved for Product Design Students
