NID has amended the Admissions Handbook on 4th June 2020 for regarding NID DAT Mains and the weightage for the DAT Prelims and DAT Mains for final result and admission to BDes and MDes programs. The NID DAT Mains will be held online in the year 2020.

Details of change in NID DAT Mains BDes:

1. In the wake of the Covid19 pandemic and uncertainties arising thereof, candidates will not be called to NID’s campuses for DAT Mains.
2. Consequently, the revised weightage for DAT Prelims and DAT Mains is as follows:

3. Details for uploading the creative work samples and statement of purpose and downloading of Admit Card will be intimated to the candidates on their registered email IDs, prior to the DAT Mains.

Details of change in NID DAT Mains MDes:

1. In the wake of the Covid19 pandemic and uncertainties arising thereof, candidates will not be called to NID’s campuses for Studio Test & Interview.
2. Online DAT Mains will be conducted in the post COVID-19 scenario.
3. The revised framework will be applicable to all 19 MDes Disciplines, even those ones who have already given their regular NID DAT Mains.
4. Consequently, the revised weightage for DAT Prelims and DAT Mains is as follows:

NID Entrance Exam Pattern

NID conducts a Design Aptitude Test (DAT) - Prelims and Mains for admission. Students who clear Prelims are called for Mains exam. NID DAT (Prelims) will be conducted on 5th January 2020. NID DAT (Mains) will be conducted in April / May 2020. NID changed the question paper pattern for the design aptitude test in 2019 as compared to previous 3 years (2018, 2017 and 2016) as follows:

Student reaction to NID DAT (Prelims) 2022: The marks weightage was reversed between objective and subjective sections. Students were surprised with the paper pattern. In the subjective section, the paper had questions on perspective drawing, stamp design, communication design. Students who are weak in drawing and creativity found the paper difficult.
