Istituto Marangoni

Istituto Marangoni was founded in 1935 in Milan as ‘Istituto Artistico dell’abbigliamento Marangoni’ and in 2015 it reached a special milestone – 80 years of history and success in training the leading professionals in Fashion and Design. Istituto Marangoni prides itself for educating four generations of students from 5 continents and launching 45,000+ professionals in fashion and luxury fields – industry leaders such as Domenico Dolce, Franco Moschino, Alessandro Sartori, Maurizio Pecoraro, Paula Cademartori, Andrea Pompilio, Lucio Vanotti, Rahul Mishra and Dhruv Kapoor are all distinguished alumni of the institute.

The Institute currently has campuses located in Milan, Florence, Paris, London, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Mumbai and Miami, which train 4,000 students from 107 countries annually.

Istituto Marangoni’s Mumbai School of Fashion and Design is the institute’s 7th location. Located at Worli, the Mumbai campus sits at the cusp of the city’s commercial and cultural hubs. With its cosmopolitan culture, vibrant cinema and burgeoning fashion industry, Mumbai was a natural choice to set up Istituto Marangoni’s first campus in India.



Application & Admission Process


  • Students who can afford slightly higher fees (about 7 lacs per year).
  • Students who are looking to pursue Entrepreneurship / get into Business. Not just looking for a Job.
  • Students who are looking for International Exposure (Cross school study options after 1 or 2 years in Mumbai to Milan, Firenze, London & Paris)
  • Students who are ready to put in the hard work and make the most of what the school offers.
  • Students who are not worried about getting a Degree from an Indian University. Students progressing to London in the 2nd year is eligible for a BA Hons. Degree from Metropolitan Met University.

Below are the documents required to apply for the course.

  • The application form page to completely filled and signed.
  • Terms & conditions form page needs to be signed.
  • Photocopy of 10th and 12th mark sheets. (12th Grade mark sheet can be submitted later)
  • Photocopy of Passport.
  • Passport size photograph.
  • Brief resume.
  • Signed statement of purpose.
  • For Fashion Styling and Design programme - 5 pieces of student work consisting of any of 2D / 3D Drawings, sketches, posters, graphics, photography, artworks etc. In soft copy format (PPT).

Statement of purpose can be prepared considering each of the following questions:

  • What has lead you to apply to a course at Istituto Marangoni?
  • Why do you believe you would benefit from it at this stage in your career?
  • How would you like to see your career develop over the next years?
  • What are your career objectives?

The structure of the entrance exam is as follows :

  • The Institute doesn’t have its own entrance exam. However, valid scores of a recognised test are preferred
  • Applicants of creative programmes are requested to submit 6 self-produced Creative Ideas: these can be anything that visually describe their inspiration and the area of study that they have chosen
  • These can be submitted in the form of sketches, drawings, photographs, moodboards, and collages (the 6 creative ideas might also be a mix of these)
