Vellore Institute Of Technology (VIT) University, Vellore was established in 1984 and is a deemed to be university. It is often considered one of the best technical universities in India, and was established with the aim of providing quality higher education on par with international standards. Vellore Institute Of Technology (VIT) University

VIT was established in the year 1984 .

It is a Deemed University.

VIT has its sole campus in Vellore, Tamil Nadu.

The eligibility criteria is as follows :

B.Arch :
10+2 examination with Mathematics as a subject and minimum 60% marks (50% for SC/ST/ Jammu & Kashmir and North Eastern states of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura)

B.Des :
10 + 2 with 60 % marks in aggregate

M.Des :
Passed B.Des in relevant discipline. Merit based + counselling

Fees for B.Arch amount to Rs. 2,88,000 per year (approx.)

The University has 23 hostels :

17 hostels for boys which accommodate 13,000 students in single, double, three, four bedded and six bedded rooms. A gym facility is also attached with a well maintained swimming pool
The 6 Women's hostels have rooms for 4,300 students. Women students have access to gym facilities and a swimming pool inside one of these hostel premises

The Institute has a tie-up with the Curtin University, Australia for exchange programs.
